I Hear Them All
04:52
|
|||
I hear the crying of the hungry in the deserts where they've drifted
hear the tortured souls of victims as their life from them is lifted
I hear destructive power failing as the fools are falsely hailing
the crooked wits of tyrants as they fall
I hear the debt of death and blood weighs heavy on our hands
as thieves and silver tongues separate us from our land
pumping poison in the wells trumping reason where it dwells
tied on a tight leash we stared enthralled
I hear rebels fight for freedom with their pride as their guide
as saviors save the kingdom with their god on their side
to protect and serve their masters who profit from grave disaster
while we take that long walk to the wailing wall
I hear the cheated mislead youth are betting futures on degrees
and cling to leaning learning like a plank that's lost at sea
then pushed to medications when they can't recite quotations
to professors who stalk those hallowed halls
I hear the split of tearing pages and the roar of burning paper
All our gains and acquisitions have turned to air and ash and vapor
And the rattle of our shackles beats our marching to the battle
and we'll sing where stand or where we crawl
I hear the tender words of children pleading out for some guidance
I hear the gentle wind that blows all our answers in its silence
And the time that’s quickly changing states the orders needs rearranging
take your places at the table when your called
So while they hide behind their gates with your money and your power
I hear the truth echo loud in the rubble of their towers
I hear that leaders quit their lying, I hear babies quit their crying
I hear soldiers quit their dying one and all

All Quiet On The Front
06:15

i began to sigh when i saw the eastern sky all quiet on the front
the wind blew slow where the grass don't grow battle's are lost not
won
all throughout one lonely night with my comrades near at hand
i had seen within a lively dream that everyone was man
i grabbed my gun as the war bells rung i quickly rose to the task
to the trench go i where we would all lie each face had become a
mask
oh the cannon fire so into the mire blind from the smoky haze
the sun did rise across my eyes evening had passed away
the bright glare of the horns did share the sound of the charge with us
in double time our feet did ride ash to ash and dust to dust
some dropped their guns each one by one just a part of desolate few
in their tracks and along their backs taken in by the foggy dew
on and on we drove on the trench now so close i can't breathe
i stumbled and fell from heaven to hell this was my last chance to
leave
my fate was true as i came to alive but where shall i stand
there were broken tongues while foreign songs sung me to rise and
kiss its hand
now i'm a traitor not his nor hers my own colors won't fly again
such lofty praise on my soul did weigh unlike those empty men
here i am with my dagger in hand it touched my skin and then drew
some blood
to my throat i let the blade roll it dragged me down to the mud
i drew to the end my hopes i do send to those who have fought in a
fight
be ready to win and begin yet again to prove god is on your side
but if you lose to find that life is cruel get on with it and be gone
here's the thing with chess and king's a pawn is just a pawn

you know you days are fading and its time for your candle light to shine
but the path you came here by is over grown with weed and with vines
there’s no use goin back no one to take the blame
you gotta forge ahead and leave behind your shame
your past it lays in waiting with each flicker of your flame
you know the ones you love will all be gone in their due time
so hold your next of kin so close there’s almost no warning signs
there’s no use splitting hairs when your bell chimes come to claim
cause you chased your whole life for false fortune and fame
your deathbed lays in waiting with each flicker of your flame
you know you’re lonely when midnight shadows are your best friends
you embrace them for their empty strength over and over again
there’s no use turning coat if life is but a game
your (re)semblance she’s a faithless reckless fickle dame
your heartache lays waiting with each flicker of your flame
you know your ways are weary and a needed change is at hand
you can’t rest your finger on it but each moment’s lost in a grain of sand
there’s no use facing facts when truth is what you fain
so keep your head laid low like walking in the rain
your vanity lays waiting with each flicker of your flame
you know your rules of thought are wrought in lust and in greed
there seems to be a nightmarish dream played out just for your needs
there’s no use hunting ghosts through broken window-panes
so take your fear and anger and cast them to the drain
your revival lays in waiting with each flicker of your flame
you know all lessons learned once earned were burned in the past
spurred on by agitators defending parades of outcasts
there’s no use restraining what just can’t be chained
when you’ve got nothing to lose you have everything to gain
your freedom lays in waiting with each flicker of your flame
you know your troubles and trials will leave you with one simple choice
to let the darkness seep within which will silence your only voice
or push away the pain and touch to turn the page
chase the light thats dawning upon your coming days
your future lays in waiting with each flicker of your flame
